Schubert Dances

I made Schubert Dances for the first Festival International de Nouvelle Danse in Montreal... a controversial choice given this solo’s classical content. I've danced Schubert Dances more than any other piece, both with TDT and as a guest with other organizations, and have enjoyed teaching it to many students.

Premiered Montreal, September 26, 1985

Performed by Christopher House

Music
Franz Schubert, selections from D. 421, 365, 781, 158, 798

Lighting
Roelof Peter Snippe

Denis Joffre

"Sleek, rhythmically inventive and performed with a razor's edge precision..."

Time Out London

"What a ripe, sensual experience...I could have watched this dance and listened to this music again and again."

Dance Magazine, New York

"The work is a small masterpiece as performed by its creator. "

Ottawa Citizen
