Martingales

Martingales, with music performed onstage by my frequent collaborator Thom Gill, is a child of Eleven Accords. Inspired by the poetic movements of elementary particles, it is built on running, walking and flying projectiles. Martingales asks the performers for razor-sharp attentiveness and split-second collective decision-making. It starts and ends with unwinnable games and only ends through system failure. Each iteration of this work plays out in a different way– I love watching it every time.

"I was gripped by this gorgeous atmospheric work from start to end... House has created what feels like a gritty and unpredictable human experiment...One of the things that was so compelling about the piece was the dancers' beautiful alertness in a setting that was both realistic and extreme.“
